O Say, Can You Sing, Milwaukee?

* Two out of three Americans don't know the words to the national anthem
* Jeep(R) brand sponsors multi-year campaign to reteach Americans the
words to "The Star-Spangled Banner"
* National tour comes to Milwaukee on Aug. 16 with singing contest

WHAT:

The 2006 National Anthem Project (NAP) Road Show is stopping in Milwaukee as part of a nationwide tour to reteach Americans the historical relevance of and words to the national anthem, while spotlighting the importance of music education. According to a Harris Poll, two out of three Americans don't know the words to the national anthem.

Led by the National Association for Music Education (MENC), the world's largest arts education association, the project's other supporters include Honorary Chairperson First Lady Laura Bush and National Presenting Sponsor the Jeep(R) brand.

Highlights of the road show include:
* The National Anthem Project All-Star Contest for kids and adults alike,
in which one winner will be awarded a $1,000 donation to his/her local
music program and given the opportunity to perform at a 2007 concert in
Washington, D.C.
* Interactive activities that teach about the historical significance of
the national anthem
* Jeep exhibit featuring a patriotic-themed Jeep Liberty and Jeep Grand
Cherokee
* The chance for attendees to "go anywhere, do anything" with Jeep by
having their photo taken as "the man on the moon"

Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2006, from 4-8 p.m. in conjunction with River Rhythms, a free outdoor music concert series
