"Progress Energy is committed to supporting arts organizations and programs that have positive economic impacts for communities across North Carolina," said Fred Day, president and CEO of Progress Energy Carolinas.
Progress Energy grants will support thought-provoking exhibits and films at the Exploris Museum and IMAX Theatre. Other grants support the North Carolina Symphony's statewide initiative to bring 30 concerts to 11 communities throughout the state, the Opera Company of North Carolina's season performances and the Carolina Ballet's production of the Nutcracker. Many of these shows will take place at the Progress Energy Center for Performing Arts, Raleigh's premier downtown arts destination.
Progress Energy believes there's nothing more powerful than strong communities. Because our success is wholly intertwined with that of the cities, towns and people we serve, the company takes an active role in building and supporting communities - identifying opportunities that will have a lasting impact and thoughtfully committing resources and time to them.
"Progress Energy's support of the arts helps improve the quality of life and economic vitality that is so important to attracting new business and making North Carolina one of the best places to live and work," said Day.
