Genoa's ColorPeak(TM) LCD Panel Preferred by 91 Percent in Quixel Research LCD TV Comparison Study
SAN FRANCISCO, June 6 /PRNewswire/ -- In a side-by-side comparison study designed by Quixel Research, a market intelligence firm specializing in the Home Theater and Entertainment display industry, 91 percent of the participants said they preferred the picture on a 32-inch LCD TV panel featuring the Genoa ColorPeak(TM) display system over a similar-sized, award-winning LCD television from a leading Japanese brand. On average, members of the test group said they'd be willing to pay 16% more -- a premium of $243 -- for a ColorPeak-based LCD set.
The study asked adults, selected at random in a Charlotte, N.C. shopping mall, to view a series of film clips on side-by-side LCD panels identified only as X and Y. When asked to rate their overall preference relative to picture quality between the two, 230 of 251 respondents -- 91 percent -- selected the ColorPeak-enhanced LCD panel.
"This study proves conclusively that ColorPeak is the key differentiator the LCD market has been waiting for," said Ilan Ben-David, Chief Executive Officer of Genoa Color Technologies. "When given a choice -- such as in a showroom where TVs are placed side-by-side -- there should be no doubt that consumers will select and pay a premium for the ColorPeak-enhanced LCD TV because it offers cinematic color and the brightest picture."
The ColorPeak MPC (Multiple Primary Color) system is a radical departure from the RGB television display technology that has been the industry standard for more than 50 years. By adding from one to three colors, typically yellow, cyan and magenta, ColorPeak not only cost-efficiently expands the color gamut but increases the brightness efficiency of the display while consuming less power.
"There was absolutely no question that the study's respondents, both men and women, clearly saw value in Genoa's MPC technology," said Tamaryn Pratt, Quixel's principal. "Most participants chose the ColorPeak-enhanced panel without hesitation; 85 percent stated they were wiling to pay more for the MPC panel. The results show that Genoa's technology should be a winner with consumers."
