Waterman(R) Paris and Actress Molly Sims to Debut Exclusive Collection at One of the Nation's Premier Art Museums
Serenite Collection d'Art valued at $44,000 Features Four Works by French Designers, Jewelers and Japanese Master Craftsmen
OAK BROOK, Ill., May 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Amid the greatest masterpieces at the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York City, Waterman(R) Paris introduces its Serenite Collection d'Art this evening with the help of stylish supermodel and actress, Molly Sims.
Collectors and personalities from the world of art, fashion and entertainment join Sims as the exclusive $44,000 pen collection makes its North American debut. Each pen is individually numbered, with only 161 collectors' sets available in the world, in recognition of the first three digits of the Golden Ratio -- a number at the root of mankind's crowning artistic achievements, from the Egyptian Pyramids and Notre-Dame to the Greek Parthenon and Da Vinci's Last Supper. Guests will have the opportunity to take home a set of the limited edition Serenite Collection d'Art (Set No. 2), as Waterman hosts a silent auction to raise funds for the museum.
"The Waterman Collection pens are exquisite pieces of jewelry -- truly works of art labored over more than three months by designers and artisans across Europe, Asia and North America. I am proud to help support the unveiling of these pens as they embody unmatched style," said Sims.
Guests will experience Waterman's rare pens firsthand when Sims leads a French writing game to create a collective collage of words.
Serenite Collection d'Art
Serenite Collection d'Art is the culmination of the Waterman brand of elegance and style at the heart of fine writing for over 100 years. The limited edition collection consists of four pens representing the Four Elements -- Earth, Air, Water and Fire -- true objets d'art. Each unique limited edition pen is handcrafted by French designers, jewelers and Japanese craftsmen over three months using a series of precious materials such as mother of pearl, quail eggshell, sterling silver and gold dust. Applying a mix of ancient traditions and decorative techniques alongside specially developed, state-of-the-art technological innovations, Waterman has created one-of-a-kind works of art with an eye toward intricate detail and precision.
"Serenite Collection d'Art is more than a set of fine writing instruments. To see these pens and understand the intricate process by which they are produced is to genuinely understand what is meant by objets d'art. The collection will appeal not only to pen collectors but art lovers and those who appreciate the decorative arts and traditions employed throughout the collection," said Nathalie Benveniste of Waterman Paris.
After the New York City premiere, the collection will tour the United States from June to October, visiting select retail locations. For more information on dates and locations, visit http://www.waterman-serenite.com/.
In conjunction with the introduction of the Serenite Collection d'Art, Waterman is also launching Serenite Blue, a pen that can stand vertically -- whether open or closed -- due to its unconventional shape that defies the standard with such perfect balance. This stylish and elegant pen is crafted using methods typically applied to fine jewelry by traditional gold and silversmiths. Serenite Blue is available in both the roller ball ($750) and fountain pen style ($900), making it the perfect gift for graduates, Father's Day or just because. Serenite Blue is available at fine pen retailers nationwide.
