MONTREAL, Canada, May 25/PRNewswire/ -- After Tuesday's release announcing the acquisition of the Canadian
rights to the next Woody Allen movie, Christal Films is pleased to confirm
yet another success: the acquisition by the company of the Canadian
distribution rights to the new Wong Kar-Wai film, My Blueberry Nights, his
first English language movie. This romantic comedy will take us into the
heartland of the North American continent. Shooting is scheduled to begin
in the US, June 2006.
Actress and singer Norah Jones will play the role of a young woman
travelling around America in quest of the true meaning of love. In the
course of this long journey, she will meet some strange, attractive and
unusual people, who will encourage her to pursue her quest. The cast will
include Jude Law (Cold Mountain, Closer, The Aviator), Natalie Portman
(Garden State, Closer, Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith) and
Rachel Weisz (About a Boy, Envy, The Constant Gardener).
Wong Kar-Wai, President of the current 59th edition of the Cannes
Festival, directed his first feature film, As Tears Go By, in 1988. His
exceptional scripts and unique camera shots have drawn acclaim for many of
his films, especially Fallen Angels, Happy Together, In the Mood for Love
and 2046. We will have to wait until 2007 to see My Blueberry Nights in
Canada and to confirm that the magic is still there.
