Doppelganger Introduces a Virtual Lounge for the Global Teen Market that Seamlessly Integrates the AIM Service
SAN FRANCISCO, May 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Doppelganger, designer of the world's first virtual nightclub for the global teen market, today announced that is has formed an agreement with AOL to bring the popular AIM service into its online Lounge.
AOL's more than 43 million AIM(R) users can now log on to a customized version of the AIM(R) client and experience real time communications in Doppelganger's online Lounge featuring the Pussycat Dolls(TM). In The Lounge, teens can hang out, chat, dance, walk around, and listen to music using their own customized avatar. The Lounge has all the features of a real-world club, including dance floors, outdoor balconies, listening stations to check out the latest music, video screens, DJ booths, and a VIP room complete with hot tub. Teenagers can design their own avatars, and customize everything from their sneakers to their haircut. These customized avatars respond to user direction through a simple interface that allows users to do just about anything from "the robot" dance to simply smile.
The Lounge seamlessly integrates with the AIM(R) service so that teens are able to use their existing AIM(R) account and Buddy List(R) feature to send instant messages to friends in The Lounge. The new agreement comes as a result of AOL's Open AIM(R) initiative, which allows companies, communities and independent developers to build customized communications clients, such as the custom AIM client found in The Lounge.
