Comcast Scores a Touchdown With NFL Network Draft Vignettes On Demand
Reggie Bush, Brodrick Bunkley and Santonio Holmes Lead the Video-on-demand Blitz
PHILADELPHIA, May 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Football fans across the country have turned to Comcast ON DEMAND for a sneak peek at leading NFL draft prospects, viewing profiles of this year's hottest rookies almost 400,000 times to date, including more than 66,000 views on Draft Weekend (April 29 and 30), an increase of more than 30 percent from 2005.
For the second consecutive year, Comcast Digital Cable customers with ON DEMAND are able to access five-minute profiles of NFL hopefuls, which include NFL Combine footage, Senior Bowl clips and collegiate highlights provided by NFL Network, the number one Sports On Demand content provider.
The top three most-viewed draft candidates through Draft weekend were:
-- Reggie Bush, a running back and the number two overall pick from the
University of Southern California, drafted by the New Orleans Saints.
Bush won the Heisman Trophy in 2005.
-- Brodrick Bunkley, a defensive tackle and the number 14 overall pick
from Florida State University, drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles.
Bunkley was FSU's defensive MVP in 2005.
-- Santonio Holmes, a wide receiver and the number 25 overall pick from
Ohio State University, drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers. Holmes
received first-team All-Big Ten honors in 2005.
Mario Williams, a defensive end from North Carolina State and the overall number one pick in the Draft by the Houston Texans, was the 14th most-watched profile on demand.
"NFL Network's Draft Vignettes On Demand gives fans a unique chance to get an up-close look at the next generation of players who will help shape the future of their favorite teams," said Page Thompson, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Video Services for Comcast. "We are focused on bringing this type of non-linear content that isn't available on traditional television to our customers."
This year's NFL Network Draft Vignettes On Demand, featuring 69 profiles of some of the most standout athletes in football, debuted on April 14 and will be available through May 15 on Comcast ON DEMAND. Fans can search these profiles alphabetically or by player position by going to the "Sports & Fitness" category of the ON DEMAND menu and selecting "NFL Network."
The popularity of VOD sports programming has contributed to the overall success of ON DEMAND. With more than two billion VOD views since 2004, Comcast customers are showing their strong desire to watch what they want, when they want it.
