'900 Frames' and EFXFilms Provide Hollywood Production Tactics in Fight Against Suicide Bombings in the Middle East

'900 Frames' and EFXFilms Provide Hollywood Production Tactics in Fight Against Suicide Bombings in the Middle East

Iraqi Television Spot to Take Aim at Suicide Bombers

LOS ANGELES, May 18 /PRNewswire/ -- 900 Frames, a commercial production company located in Los Angeles, will provide Hollywood know-how for a public service announcement (PSA) for Iraqi television with the goal of discouraging suicide bombers in Iraq. The big-budget, high-tech production will simulate an Iraqi suicide bombing this weekend with a location just outside of downtown Los Angeles standing in as a crowded Baghdad square.

The production will include approximately 200 cast members and extras, state of the art cinematography, and numerous pyrotechnic explosions, including a 120 camera still array sequence for a Matrix-style moment-in-time shot. The 60-second spot, with a budget exceeding one million dollars, will be directed by Ian Sharp (no relation to actor of same name) whose long list of credits include utilizing his explosive talents on "GoldenEye" in the James Bond film series.

There was an average of 75 suicide attacks per month in Iraq during 2005. The goal of the PSA, co-produced by 900 Frames with EFXFilms, a Lebanese production company, is to encourage any would-be suicide bombers in Iraq to think twice about their methods by highlighting the innocent victims' points of view.

"If 900 Frames can make a difference in the heart and mind of just one potential suicide bomber by accurately portraying the senseless results of an attack on civilians, then we will have achieved something that will spare countless lives," said Sam Najah. Najah, an Iranian-born American, is the PSA's co-executive producer along with his 900 Frames partner Drew Plotkin.

The project is funded privately by independent, non-governmental scholars, businesspersons, and activists living in Iraq and abroad.

Founded in 1995, 900 Frames has produced more than 200 top commercials domestically and internationally for some of the biggest and most successful companies in the world including McDonald's, Sony, Coca-Cola and Ford while working with top commercial agencies such as Saatchi & Saatchi, Leo Burnett, and McCann Erickson. 900 Frames and EFXFilms also co-produced "Sovereignty," a PSA that aired throughout Iraq earlier this year to instill calm and bolster national pride during the Iraqi elections.
