Hunt Confirmed for 'Late Show With David Letterman' May 9th; Tour With Anthony Hamilton Underway
LOS ANGELES, April 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Capitol recording artist Van Hunt's On The Jungle Floor, which was released April 4th, has debuted at #1 on Billboard's Heatseekers chart. The acclaimed singer-songwriter, who is currently on the road with Anthony Hamilton, will perform "Being A Girl," the album's second single, on "Late Show With David Letterman" on Tuesday, May 9th.
"Van Hunt will floor you with his sensational second cd ... . Two albums in, you get the feeling Hunt could be starting a legacy of his own," said People Magazine in its four-star, "critics choice" review of On The Jungle Floor. "Twisty songwriting quirks, tasty guitar licks, and unexpected funk codas result in the welcome return of an original," said Entertainment Weekly, giving the album an "A."
Live reviews have been equally stellar. "Not since Prince and the Revolution has a band been able to move so seamlessly between funk and rock with a captivating front man singing such well constructed songs," said Daily Variety of Hunt's show last week at Los Angeles' Roxy Theatre. "Most of all, the 29-year-old singer-guitarist proved Tuesday that he is a star ... oozing charisma and energy," said The Hollywood Reporter.
As part of the album's launch, Hunt performed "Character," the album's first single, on "The Tonight Show With Jay Leno" and "The Tavis Smiley Show" last week and he also appeared on KCRW's "Morning Becomes Eclectic." VH1.com hosted an exclusive "Hear Music First on VH1.com" album listening party the week prior to release, and MSN and MP3.com hosted album listening parties the week of release. In addition, Hunt dropped by AT&T's Blue Room and he has been selected as one of the artists for MSN.com's "Ones To Watch" series for April 15 - May 15.
Earlier this year, Hunt performed at Vanity Fair's Academy Awards "Amped for Africa" party, which was hosted by Charlize Theron, and in the much-talked-about Sly And The Family Stone tribute at the 48th Annual GRAMMY(R) Awards. (Hunt was nominated for a Grammy(R) in the "Best Urban/Alternative Performance" category for a track from his 2004 debut album.) Upcoming tour dates include:
