Samsung Fresh Films Empowers Youth Through Innovative Technology

Samsung Fresh Films Empowers Youth Through Innovative Technology

Filmmaking Program Allows Teens to Envision the World as Their Movie Set

CHICAGO and DALLAS, April 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Samsung Telecommunications America (Samsung) and Fresh Films (Fresh Films) today announced Samsung's sponsorship of a multi-tiered teen filmmaking program entitled "Samsung Fresh Films," which is designed to empower teens to unleash their creative expression. As the only national teen filmmaking program in the U.S., the Samsung Fresh Films program connects 14 to 19 year-olds with film producers and the latest filmmaking and mobile technologies, teaching them how to scout locations, cast, direct, shoot and edit their own 10-minute films. In mid-July 2006, the completed films will be showcased on http://www.fresh-films.com/ where viewers can vote for the 2006 Freshest Teen Filmmakers.

Teen "film crews," selected from a national call for entries, will use Samsung's latest mobile phones to enhance and accelerate film production. In a whirlwind seven days over summer break, filmmakers will use Samsung's high-resolution camera/camcorder phones to scout locations. Teen directors will communicate with field teams via mobile e-mail, text messaging and walkie-talkie-enabled mobile phones. The short films and the behind-the-scenes documentaries will showcase Samsung's MP3 and ultra-slim multimedia phones as integral accessories and props.

"Creativity and innovation are the cornerstones of Samsung and the Samsung Fresh Films program," said Peter Skarzynski, senior vice president, Samsung. "By developing marketing programs and advanced technologies that foster creativity, Samsung is investing in tomorrow's leadership and encouraging teens to envision their future, here and now."

Between April and September, Samsung and Fresh Films will make numerous announcements regarding a complementary music program, regional and national premiere events, view, vote and win sweepstakes, in-cinema activities, and online mobile content, including downloadable movie trailers and ringtones.
