KIRKLAND, Wash., April 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Belo Corp. television stations, KVUE-TV/DT, Austin, Tex., KHOU-TV/DT, Houston, Tex., WCNC-TV/DT, Charlotte, North Carolina, KENS-TV San Antonio, Tex., KING-TV/DT and KONG-TV/DT, Seattle, Wash., KREM-TV/DT and KSKN-TV, Spokane, Wash., KTVK-TV/DT and KASW-TV/DT, Phoenix, Ariz., and KMOV-TV/DT, St. Louis, Mo., have purchased Neural Audio Corporation's DTV 5.1 audio processing package featuring MultiMerge(TM) and Neural Surround(TM) DownMix Mix-Edit System. Belo is a leader in digital television and is one of the nation's largest media companies.
"MultiMerge is a very simple approach to a complicated problem," said Reed Wilson, Belo technology manager. "The main feature I like most about this product is that it detects and manages very effectively stereo and Network 5.1 with no knobs or settings to worry about."
MultiMerge offers a seamless and effective solution by utilizing a detector core that resolves 2.0 and 5.1 content image changes and performs upmixing when needed. In addition, the upmix algorithm operates in the frequency domain, which guarantees image stability and fewer artifacts in consumer surround speakers at home.
"MultiMerge offers the affiliate a 'set-it and forget-it solution' that is superior in upmix stability and consistency for the viewer," said Mark Seigle, Neural Audio president. "The MultiMerge value-added proposition for local content providers and advertisers, an improved listener experience, should be noted as one of the most effective ways to address interoperability issues that exist today."
"HD and 5.1 surround sound is a priority with Belo, and we are always looking for affordable solutions that can effectively address interoperability issues such as merging 5.1 and stereo at the local level," said Wayne Kube, Belo technology manager. "With Neural's MultiMerge advanced detector core, our station engineers can guarantee a great 5.1 experience for their audiences."
