Vyyo Named Platinum Vendor by National Cable Television Cooperative

ATLANTA, Jan. 11 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Vyyo Inc. (NASDAQ:VYYO), a global supplier of broadband access equipment for cable and private wireless broadband network solutions, announced today that it has been named a Platinum Vendor by the National Cable Television Cooperative (NCTC).

As a Platinum Vendor, Vyyo is a preferred vendor for its T1 over Coax, T1 over Wireless and spectrum overlay solutions to the more than 1,100 NCTC member cable system operators. Vyyo will be demonstrating the solutions at the NCTC Winter Educational Conference Jan. 30-31 in Albuquerque, NM. The NCTC is a programming and hardware buying cooperative that represents operators serving 14.3 million subscribers in the United States. In the aggregate, that group represents the world's second largest base of cable television subscribers.

"Part of my satisfaction of working with the NCTC over the past 20 years has been the ability to help create solutions that work for member operators," said Scott Grim, director of business development for Vyyo. "I'm pleased that the organization has recognized the value of Vyyo's solutions, and look forward to working with members as they implement our spectrum overlay and T1 solutions."

"With multiple commercial purchase orders already received and an expanding list of trials with NCTC members, we are pleased to formalize this partnership with the NCTC to better serve this expanding customer base," said Avner Kol, chief operating officer of Vyyo. "Using our spectrum overlay product and our wired and wireless T1 solutions, NCTC members can deliver bandwidth-intensive advanced services such as HD on Demand and Very-High Speed Data, as well as symmetrical, voicegrade T1 commercial and cellular backhaul links."

"Cable system operators are recognizing the value of delivering an increasing number of advanced revenue-generating services," said Mark Bishop, senior vice president, hardware for NCTC. "Vyyo's spectrum overlay technology is designed to allow our members to create the bandwidth necessary for the services their subscribers desire, rather than having service offerings dictated by available bandwidth."

"A potential area of substantial growth for our membership is in delivering symmetrical T1 services to commercial customers who already are passed by existing plant," said Alan Tschirner, vice president, hardware for NCTC. "The telecom-quality capabilities of Vyyo's T1 over coax solution provide the high quality and high reliability that will attract and retain business customers, and will allow us to target the market opportunity for backhaul of cellular traffic."

"The ability to cost-effectively target new commercial customers has always been a challenge for our industry," said Ed Heuck, vice president of technology for Hargray Communications. "Using Vyyo's T1 solutions, we can leverage our existing investment in HFC plant to reach out to new market sectors."

Vyyo's spectrum overlay solution is designed to expand the usable downstream bandwidth by up to two times and increase up to tenfold the upstream bandwidth of typical hybrid fiber-coaxial (HFC) network architectures. Vyyo's carrier class T1 technology combines the company's XMTS(TM) family of products, headend modular systems servicing up to 56 T1 links, and the company's V3xx family of T1 modems to provide a market leading low-jitter, low-latency solution that utilizes existing infrastructure and Vyyo's T1 Network Management System. Vyyo's T1 over coax products have achieved certification for compliance with the Telecommunications Industry Association's TIA-968-A-3 standards from the Administrative Council for Terminal Attachment (ACTA).
