Nick Jr. Partners With Channel Frederator and Bolder Media for Unique Sneak Peek of New Series on 'The Wubbcast,' The First Video Podcast of Preschooler Programming, and Online on Nick Jr. Video, January 10
NEW YORK, Jan. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Nick Jr. announced that it has commenced production on the new original animated series, Wow! Wow! Wubbzy! The 26-episode preschool series, produced by Bolder Media for Boys and Girls and created by Bob Boyle (producer on Nickelodeon's The Fairly OddParents and Danny Phantom), celebrates the spirit of teamwork and cooperation. Wow! Wow! Wubbzy! (formerly called Wubby, Widget and Walden) is slated to premiere in Fall 2006 on Nick Jr.
Nick Jr. has partnered with Channel Frederator and Bolder Media for Boys and Girls, creators of The Wubbcast, the world's first-ever video podcast of preschooler programming, to unveil a unique, same-day sneak peek of Wow! Wow! Wubbzy! on Tuesday, January 10. The Wubbcast features musical animation (5-7 minute episodes) for distribution on portable video devices, including Apple iPod and Sony PlayStation Portable [PSP] and mobile telephones. On January 10, The Wubbcast (http://www.wubbzy.com/), Nick Jr. Video, NickJr.com's broadband video platform for preschoolers and parents (http://www.nickjrvideo.com/) and animation distribution platform Channel Frederator (http://www.channelfrederator.com/) will all sneak peek a music video from the premiere episode of the new series. More information on the Wubbcast is also available on the "Wow! Wow! Wubbzy! for Parents" section of Nickjr.com.
"We are so excited to be part of the launch of The Wubbcast," said Brown Johnson, Executive Creative Director, Nickelodeon Preschool Television. "Young parents are big users of new technology and The Wubbcast is a great way to bring them new Nick Jr. programs that entertain and educate."
"Wubbzy and his friends are being introduced through books, television and the Wubbcast. There is no better partner in the world to reach young children and the people who love them than Nick Jr.," said Susan Miller, Executive Producer, Wow! Wow! Wubbzy!
Wow! Wow! Wubbzy! stars a curious little creature named Wubbzy and his two pals Widget and Walden who live in the mythical city of Wuzzleburg. The offbeat loveable friends live in a world, which is a whimsical and imaginative version of our own. All Wubbzy wants to do is have fun and spend his time chasing flutterflys, eating ice cream and playing hippity-hopscotch! But when he runs into everyday kid problems, he calls on his friends for help and advice. Widget is a mechanical whiz who owns a fix-it shop and is always ready to jump in and lend a hand. Her solution to any problem is to build something big and complicated, but her inventions don't always work! Walden is a quirky scientist who finds great wisdom in everything from ancient philosophy to tarot card reading. He has a unique way of looking at the world, but his brainy approach doesn't always produce practical results.
In Wuzzleburg, things can spin quickly out of control. A toy train can leave the backyard in a shambles, a cake-baking escapade can bury Wuzzleburg under a sea of batter and a quest for marshmallow lasagna can lead to a runaway wagon ride down Mt. Zubba Bubba! Wubbzy, Widget and Walden can turn a simple challenge into a calamity, but when they work together, they can solve anything! The trio's everyday adventures help them to discover just how the world works.
Each half-hour episode of Wow! Wow! Wubbzy! will feature two, 10-minute adventures with Wubbzy, Widget and Walden. As each journey comes to a close, the themes of the day are reinforced through an original music video, followed by a direct-to-camera segment where Wubbzy, Widget and Walden address the preschoolers at home.
Wow! Wow! Wubbzy! supports social skills, self-awareness and humor as a coping skill. Although their world is more fanciful and imaginative than our own, Wubbzy, Widget and Walden face the same interpersonal and developmental issues that typical preschoolers face. They learn how they fit into the group, how to understand their own feelings and those of others, and how to get along with one another. As preschoolers watch Wubbzy, Widget and Walden tackle these issues, they are exposed to important ideas about both interpersonal and intrapersonal development.
Wow! Wow! Wubbzy! is a Bolder Media for Boys and Girls Production in association with IDT/Film Roman. Bob Boyle is the creator and executive producer of the series. Susan Miller of Bolder Media, Inc. and Mixed Media Group and Fred Seibert of Bolder Media, Inc. and Frederator Studios, are also executive producers on Wow! Wow! Wubbzy!
Bolder Media for Boys and Girls is a joint venture formed by veteran producers Susan Miller and Fred Seibert for the development of books, television series, and movies for young boys and girls.
