ICTV, Amiga Combine to Enable 'Interactive Triple Play' Across PCs, Mobile Devices and Television

LOS GATOS, Calif., and SAN FRANCISCO, Jan. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- ICTV(TM), the creator of HeadendWare(R), the most powerful platform for the delivery and distribution of interactive television programming, and Amiga, Inc., provider of cross-platform enabling technology for digital multimedia, today announced a development and marketing distribution agreement to deploy Amiga's applications and content on the HeadendWare platform.

Under the agreement, the companies will deploy Amiga technologies that will allow network operators to run the AmigaAnywhere application engines on HeadendWare. The combined technologies will enable an interactive triple play in which subscribers to HeadendWare-based services can interact with the same content across PCs, mobile devices and on television.

Amiga's audio, video and interactive applications expand ICTV's content portfolio within many markets, including sports, edutainment, arcade, casual games, and music. Amiga also allows third party content providers to write their applications one time and have it run across PCs, mobile devices, and across HeadendWare platform for delivery as television.

"Amiga has an established reputation for delivering phenomenal graphics and high performance multimedia on PCs and mobile devices," said Mark Jeffery, senior director of product marketing for ICTV. "ICTV HeadendWare extends the reach by enabling these applications to run seamlessly across cable and IPTV networks globally, as television, giving our customers greater choice of content and multi-tier distribution models."

The HeadendWare platform has successfully been deployed by network operators in North America, Europe and Asia. The flexibility of the HeadendWare system lets operators offer AmigaAnywhere applications to all subscribers, as a subscription channel, or on a pay-per-use service.

"Amiga technologies are designed to provide users with quality entertainment across any device," said Greg Sigel, Amiga's vice president of sales and marketing. "ICTV's delivery of compelling interactive media to consumers' televisions greatly advances our ability to personalize content."
