Buckeye Cable Deploys Camiant's Policy Solution to Attract Subscribers to Premium Tiered Data Service
Rollout significantly enhances quality of service, flexibility and subscriber control for current and future services and applications
MARLBOROUGH, Mass., Jan. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Camiant, a provider of solutions for flawless delivery of IP-based multimedia applications, today announced that Buckeye CableSystem is deploying Camiant's PacketCable(TM) Multimedia (PCMM) policy solution to create demand for its tiered data services through innovative promotions that will enable basic Buckeye Express subscribers to trial the operator's next highest-speed data tier.
"Buckeye is committed to delivering the most advanced services to its subscribers and Camiant's PCMM policy solution enables us to significantly evolve our offerings to include better quality of service, greater flexibility and enhanced subscriber control. Now, subscribers can experience the power of broadband by trialing the incremental speeds associated with our high-speed data tiers to determine what package best fits their needs," said Joe Jensen, chief technology officer for Buckeye. "Camiant is enabling Buckeye to be at the forefront of PCMM deployments globally and we're proud to be at the cutting edge of advanced services delivery as we aim to expand our offerings to include SIP-telephony and other IMS-based applications."
Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) is a universal standard for initiating, modifying and terminating an interactive user session that includes multimedia components, such as VoIP, IP-based video and online gaming. IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) is a standards-based Next Generation Networking architecture for service providers that want to offer mobile and fixed multimedia services for users who want access to home services when they're roaming.
"Buckeye's deployment of Camiant's PCMM policy offering further validates our solution and provides the necessary infrastructure for operators to roll out additional services and applications," said Ed Delaney, vice president of marketing and business development for Camiant. "We are eager to continue working with Buckeye on a number of telephony initiatives including video telephony, quality of service for its commercial offering and optimal voice quality for its dual-mode wireless phones."
Buckeye is offering these services through the deployment of Camiant's QBUS Multimedia Service Controller(TM), which enables operators to prioritize service delivery based on subscriber request, application requirements and network capacity; and QBUS Bandwidth on Demand Application Manager(TM), which allows subscribers to access a service portal providing real-time control over bandwidth speeds. Together, these powerful, leading products comprise Camiant's PCMM policy solution.
