Cell Phone Access, Internet Content Support, New Formats User Interface Enhancements
PORT CHESTER, N.Y., Dec. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- SkipJam Corp., a leading provider of home automation and multimedia networking, announced today version 1.5 of the SkipJam iMedia Software Platform. The new version includes support for remote access via Cellular phone, enhanced support for additional internet content as well as enhancements to the user interface. Among the new internet services supported are PodCasts, RSS feeds directly on the TV, and Weather information and alerts direct from the NOAA. The new iMedia Software also includes new usability features including an enhanced program guide browser which finds TV content more easily, support for additional formats, including EXIF digital camera information, a variety of new skins and the ability to browse content by cover art.

Cell Phone Support
New features in SkipJam's HomeView(TM) remote-access allow iMedia users to browse home from their Cell Phone browser, and monitor and control home devices. The HomeView enhancements also include support for RTSP streaming video, so that users can watch pre-recorded or live content streamed directly to their cell phone.
Using the HomeView features users can schedule recordings of favorite shows, check whether the kids are watching TV, or even monitor home security cameras for peace of mind. SkipJam users can:
* Turn on / off any device
* Schedule Recordings
* Start / stop playing or recording any device
* Send remote control commands to any device (e.g. "lights off")
* Monitor what is playing on any TV or Stereo in the home
* View / listen to any pre-recorded content
* View / listen to any "live" source remotely (e.g. camera or satellite
or cable)
Enhanced Internet Content Support
SkipJam iMedia 1.5 includes support for PodCasts and RSS feeds, allowing users to browse through lists of PodCasts or internet RSS Feeds right on their TVs, even while watching TV and / or listening to music or Internet Radio. The new iMedia software includes lists of News and special interest content and users can add their own favorite PodCasts or RSS URLs using their remote. The iMedia PodCast support can automatically download "subscribed" PodCasts when new releases are posted, or simply notify of their availability for "live listening" on demand.
The new software also includes a direct interface to NOAA weather information available nationwide on a per ZIP Code basis. The weather information also includes extended forecast data and weather alerts and warnings.
New Formats and User Interface Options
iMedia V1.5 Software upgrade also provides support for several additional photo formats, including TIFF, PNG and EXIF camera info. For example, iMedia users can browse photos by camera or by MegaPixels.
In addition, the iMedia Software user interface has been enhanced to include:
* Multiple user selectable skins
* Cover art browsing
* Re-sizeable thumbnails for photo browsing (Chan Up/Down keys
