Utah Company Completes First Full Line of Gospel Study Software
LDS Media Releases LDS Library 2006
OREM, Utah, Nov. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- LDS consumers will find several good reasons to revisit the category of gospel study software this Christmas. LDS Media, the leading provider of digital gospel products for Latter-day Saints, has announced the release of LDS Library 2006 with several new features and new content that should appeal to consumers who may think they have "seen it all before." The new product is now available at LDS bookstores, including Deseret Book, and from the company's Website, LDSLibrary.com.
The 2006 Library completes an entire line of complimentary products that also includes LDS Library Lesson & Talk Builder, a software tool for teachers and speakers, and the LDS PDA Library featuring 270 complete books for PDAs, including the scriptures.
"We are genuinely excited about this new product. We have been waiting for a gospel study tool of this caliber for a long time," said Keith Hunter, vice president of sales and business development of Deseret Book. "LDS Library 2006 is a must-have software product for every LDS home this Christmas."
With nearly 3,400 titles, LDS Library 2006 boasts more LDS titles than any previous gospel study library, including more than 80 new contemporary works from BYU and Deseret Book. The 2006 release also features a new study journal to allow users to record and catalog personal experiences and impressions related to topics they are studying, and a simplified interface designed to offer faster, easier access to the most authoritative and relevant commentary on any gospel topic. Thousands of new, high-resolution photos of prominent members, places, events and artifacts are also included.
"LDS Library 2006 was designed as a study tool to enhance reading, searching, and studying of the gospel," explained Doug Smith, President and CEO of LDS Media. "This product simply facilitates an experience in learning and discovery that would be extremely difficult, if not impossible to achieve without the technology."
But more important than the study experience itself, according to Smith, is the unprecedented ability to use and apply the information you gain in your study.
"You can now transform inspiring scriptures or topics that you heard in a church meeting or other setting into a catalyst for personal edification," said Mr. Smith. "Take that poignant thought or idea home with you. Open the topic or scripture in LDS Library 2006 and read it alongside the comments of prophets and others who have addressed the topic."
"Then, take it to the next level," Smith continued. "Capture the passages that are most meaningful to you and record your personal insights and feelings alongside those passages in your study journal. The tight integration between the library and study journal now makes your own commentary part of the knowledge base on that subject!"
Once integrated into the library, such personal insights can be referenced, searched, and shared easily along with any other content, using the retrieval and publishing tools of the library and its companion products, Smith said.
According to Lee Gibbons, Chief Technology Officer for LDS Media, LDS Library 2006 achieves an unprecedented level of integration with the company's other gospel study and teaching tools. "We have improved upon previous gospel study software, making LDS Library 2006 the most complete, powerful and versatile gospel learning library ever created for Latter-day Saints," said Gibbons. Any content found in LDS Library 2006 and its Study Journal can be exported to LDS Library Lesson & Talk Builder or LDS PDA Library.
In addition to LDS Media's line of LDS Library products, the company is also the leading player in digital audio products for Latter-day Saints. The company's audio Website, LDSAudio.com lists nearly 5,000 audio books, talks, albums and songs available in MP3 format. All are downloadable for use on computers and other MP3 devices like Apple's popular iPod. With forecasted brisk sales of personal electronics including PDAs (personal digital assistants), iPods, and other MP3 players this Christmas, the company expects its products to be popular with tech-savvy saints.
"These are great gifting ideas for the 'wired' Church membership," says Jim Ericson, the company's VP of Marketing. "With prices starting at $0.99 for a song, or $5.95 for an album or talk, and software from just $39.95, there really is something for everyone."
LDS Library 2006 and other LDS Media products are currently available at Deseret Book and other LDS bookstores or online at LDSLibrary.com. Downloads of audio books, talks, and music are available at LDSAudio.com.
