CHICAGO, Sept. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Leslie Hindman Auctioneers is pleased to present an auction of the John Drury collection of A.C. Gilbert Erector sets, Mysto Magic sets, and other Gilbert toys on October 9, 2005. Many of these items are very rare and all are from the collection of John Drury, one of the most respected and revered television anchormen in the history of Chicago journalism.

In 2001, after 50 years in broadcasting, John retired from his position as television news anchor on Channel 7, Chicago and looked forward to carefree hours in his now famous "Erector Room". However, deteriorating health marred this carefree enjoyment. In May of 2004, John was diagnosed with ALS commonly known as Lou Gehrig's disease. John decided that if he could not see or enjoy his beloved Gilbert toys, he should auction the collection. It will probably be the largest and most valuable collection of Erector sets, Mysto Magic sets and other Gilbert toys ever to be sold at an auction.

Highlights from the auction include an A.C. Gilbert Erector Set, 1930, set number 10, estimated to bring $8,000-12,000; a 1932, set number 10, all original parts, estimated at $20,000-40,000; and a 1926, set number 10, $10,000-15,000. Additional highlights include a 1950s Gilbert Mysto Magic Set number 20, a 1952 Gilbert Mysto Magic Exhibition Set number 6, and a 1929 Mysto Magic Exhibition set number 2007.
