TV Star Kelly Ripa Highlights Cooper University Hospital's World-Class Centers Of Excellence In New TV Ad Campaign
Three New Spots Feature Camden County Native Ripa, Patients Sharing Testimonials of Cooper's World Class Cancer, Heart and Orthopaedic Institutes
CAMDEN, N.J., Aug. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Cooper University Hospital (Cooper) debuted three new TV commercials today featuring television star and Stratford, NJ native, Kelly Ripa. The commercials also featured patients whose lives have been changed by Cooper's world-class Centers of Excellence: the Cooper Heart Institute, the Cooper Bone and Joint Institute and The Cancer Institute of New Jersey at Cooper.
The commercials were unveiled today by Cooper University Hospital Chairman Charles Sessa, Jr., Vice Chairman George E. Norcross, III and Ripa. "We are delighted that Kelly, one of Camden's and America's most beloved public personas, agreed to volunteer her time to participate in this campaign," said Norcross. "Cooper salutes her and her unwavering commitment to her hometown hospital."
"Kelly Ripa is the perfect fit for our campaign because of her energy and sincerity," said Cooper's Christopher T. Olivia, M.D., President & CEO. "The spots take advantage of Kelly's ability to interview real patients and have their messages relate to the TV audiences. Kelly Ripa is a voice that resonates clearly with our target audience, women 25 to 54 years-old."
Ripa was not able to attend due to obligations associated with "Live with Regis and Kelly" and her hit TV show "Hope & Faith".
In a taped message Ripa said, "I just wanted to take a moment to say how lucky the Delaware Valley is to have Cooper University Hospital. It's an academic health care institution with world-renowned doctors. In the commercials you'll be seeing, I spoke to real patients - not actors. Hillary Johnston and her husband, Art, from Cherry Hill...Jack and Patricia Pawela from Williamstown...Sandy Bateman from Bellmawr...All you have to do is ask them and they'll tell you how great their experiences were and how much they value Cooper being there for them."
Among the patients featured in the spots is Bellmawr resident Sandy Bateman who was treated for heart disease at the Cooper Heart Institute. Mrs. Bateman, who had a next generation biventricular pacing device inserted, is interviewed by Ripa in the commercial. Bateman tells Ripa about her new pacing device,"...the doctors at Cooper can monitor my heart remotely and make changes to my treatment...I feel great."
In the oncology spot, Ripa converses with Hillary Johnston, a breast cancer survivor, and her husband, Art, from Cherry Hill. Hillary was treated at The Cancer Institute of New Jersey at Cooper. Cooper is a partner of The Cancer Institute of New Jersey, one of only 39 National Cancer Institutes -- designated comprehensive cancer care centers in the nation. Hillary recounts, "You want to do everything you can and I feel like I did. Cooper saved my life."
The third commercial features an interview with Williamstown residents and long-time tennis partners Jack and Patricia Pawela. Jack was treated for two knee replacements and a hip replacement at the Cooper Bone & Joint Institute. For his hip replacement, Mr. Pawela received a new state-of-the-art ceramic-on-ceramic hip. Cooper was one of the first sites in the country selected by the FDA to administer this procedure. During the interview, Jack says," ... ceramic-on-ceramic hips, they're not at most hospitals...Cooper did a great job."
The commercials will begin airing today in the Philadelphia DMA.
Created by Winning Strategies Advertising of Princeton, NJ, the spots feature Ripa not only because of her local commitment to Camden but also because of her enormous appeal.
