Three Out of Four Smokers Want to Quit, Cites Former Smoker Karen Schmidt Renzelmann in Personal Appeal Honoring the Memory of Peter Jennings

WAUKESHA, Wis., Aug. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- The following open letter is from former smoker Karen Schmidt Renzelmann:

It is possible to quit smoking. I know I've tried many times. Through my interest in astrology, I have read a book called New Moon Astrology (Bantam Dell Publishers) by Jan Spiller. The premise of this book is that it is possible to create positive change in a person's life utilizing the energy of the New Moon.

With the passing of Peter Jennings, and my own anniversary of quitting the horrible habit this month, it's time that this method reach the public. It is easy to do, and for those people who really want to quit, they have nothing to lose by trying and everything to gain, including their health, self-esteem, and money in their pockets, not to mention the health of their families and the tremendous power in knowing that they have finally succeeded in beating this addiction.

I would also add that my own father Brad, my husband's grandfather Ray, and his stepmother Suzan's father Claude all died of lung cancer, so this has touched me personally as well.

Every year in November there is publicity for the Great American Smokeout. I want to propose a New Great International Smokeout on September 3, the New Moon in the sign of Virgo. Virgo rules physical health, and a sample wish from New Moon Astrology is listed as "I want the addiction to CIGARETTES totally lifted from me." Anyone wishing to quit should write this statement down, speak it out loud, and smoke their last cigarette on September 2.

I am very committed to getting this message out, and I am hoping this is published in the media worldwide. It is possible to quit smoking. If I could succeed, anyone can.
