Show Business Legends to Honor Game Show Legends at Annual Game Show Congress
GLENDALE, Calif., Aug. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- It will be a star-studded event as three of America's greatest game show hosts will be honored at the annual Career Awards Luncheon of 4th Game Show Congress on Sunday August 21st at the Glendale, CA Hilton.
Comedian Shelley Berman, actress-comedienne Pat Carroll, announcer John Harlan, "Name That Tune" bandleader Tommy Oliver, modern era emcees Todd Newton and Guillermo Huesca, producer Stu Billett, and talent coordinator Jean Brown will offer tributes to Monty Hall, the recipient of the Ralph Edwards Career Community Service Award, and to Jack Narz and Tom Kennedy, both of whom will be honored with the Bill Cullen Career Achievement Award.
Mr. Berman appeared on the original "What's My Line?" as both a panelist and mystery guest, as well as on "Password" and "Match Game." Currently, he appears on HBO's "Curb Your Enthusiasm." Ms. Carroll has appeared on more than 20 game shows during her career, including "Keep Talking," "Beat the Clock," "I'll Bet" and "You Don't Say!" Mr. Harlan was the announcer for "You Don't Say!" and "The $100,000 Name That Tune." Mr. Oliver led the "Name That Tune" orchestra from 1974-79 and composed the most recognized theme for the show. Mr. Newton, host of USA Network's "Made in the USA" premiering September 14th, is the former emcee of "Powerball Instant Millionaire," GSN's "Hollywood Showdown" and "Whammy!", along with the current "The Price Is Right" onstage in Atlantic City and Las Vegas. Mr. Huesca currently presides over "Trato Hecho" (the Spanish version of "Let's Make A Deal") on the Univision network. Mr. Billett, one of TV's most prolific producers is partnered with Ralph Edwards on "The Peoples' Court," and produced "Split Second." Ms. Brown has been responsible for acquiring celebrity talent for various game and talk shows on television for over 40 years.
