Study Finds Rising Gas Prices Getting Personal

A survey says consumers are telling auto manufacturers they want fuel- efficient vehicles; they are reducing how much they drive and they will factor the price of gas into decisions concerning both the timing and type of vehicles they purchase. That's according to results from a public opinion poll and forthcoming study by the Polk Center for Automotive Studies.

Between news accounts and driver reaction to prices paid at the pump, the effect of increased gas prices is inescapable. Virtually all respondents nationwide have noticed the price of gas rise over the past 12 months. Consumer awareness of gas prices is high. Eighty-eight percent of respondents believe dependence on foreign oil has increased dramatically in the past five years.

Princeton Review Annual College Rankings Based on 110,000 Student Survey Now Out in 'Best 361 Colleges - 2006 EDN.'

According to a survey by The Princeton Review that asked 110-thousand students at 361 top colleges to rate their schools and report on their campus experiences, Reed College in Portland, Oregon has the best academics. It also has the least religious students. Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine, serves up the best campus food and Loyola College in Baltimore has the best dorms. Princeton University is the best-administered school and the one at which students are happiest with their financial aid packages.

The Princeton Review's annual ranking lists of top 20 colleges in these and 57 other categories are in the new 2006 edition of "The Best 361 Colleges, which goes on sale today (Tuesday).
