New service goes beyond weather updates to include travel alerts, baseball game delays, and more

VIENNA, Va. and ATLANTA, Aug. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- The Mobile Media Company, the Personal Broadcaster (http://www.mobilemedia.com/), and The Weather Channel Interactive (http://www.weather.com/) today announced the launch of new mobile alert services that provide users with weather, travel, and other information via text messages directly to their mobile phones.

In addition to the current 3-day forecast service, customers can now receive the following on-demand messages without a subscription:

any team's next home game, up to 10 days in advance, with specific
forecasts for the actual stadium location. To access this feature,
customers text "ball" and the team name to 4CAST (42278).

-- Pollen Count. Information about pollen levels for grass, tree, and
ragweed anywhere around the country. To access this feature, customers

Each alert is $0.75 per message, in addition to any standard messaging fees or package rates charged by participating carriers.

"This partnership provides people exactly what they want: accurate, easy-to-use, and affordable lifestyle information," says Steinar Svalesen, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Mobile Media North America. "We believe consumers will respond strongly to The Weather Channel's new offerings, and look forward to launching other services with them over the next few months."

The new services are available to customers of most leading wireless carriers, including Cingular Wireless, Verizon Wireless, Sprint Wireless, Nextel, T-Mobile, Alltel Wireless, Midwest Wireless, and Boost Mobile, making it The Weather Channel Interactive's most widely available mobile offering.

Expanding on The Weather Channel's popular 36-hour and Marine text 4CAST service launched in October 2004, and its text trivia campaign first announced in June, the lifestyle alerts are the latest in a series of services being offered by The Weather Channel Interactive and Mobile Media.

"The Weather Channel's text messaging 4CAST service provides mobile phone owners with customized, relevant content at their convenience," says Louis Gump, Vice President of mobile at The Weather Channel Interactive. "From the ballpark to the airport to the backyard, 4CAST keeps people prepared, with no need to subscribe or sign up."
