Clear Channel Chairman Mark Mays and Radio Division CEO John Hogan Top the List at #1 and #2, Respectively

PALM BEACH, Fla., July 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Clear Channel Communications CEO Mark Mays tops this year's list of the 40 Most Powerful People in Radio, as identified in the current issue of Radio Ink magazine. Clear Channel Radio CEO John Hogan moves up to the number 2 position on the list, while Infinity Broadcasting CEO Joel Hollander rounds out the top 3.

Identifying the 40 Most Powerful People in Radio is a lengthy 12-month process that begins as soon as the last "40 Most Powerful" issue rolls off the presses, commented Radio Ink Editor-in-Chief Reed Bunzel. "Essentially, we maintain a 'rolling file' of all those men and women who might deserve a spot on the list," he said. "Over the course of the year, these files grow both in number and size as we collect corporate financial statements and dissect the revenue and earnings numbers. We also make hundreds of phone calls and exchange thousands of emails as we contact top corporate CEOs, group executives, investment analysts, brokers, broadcasters, and managers at virtually every level of the industry. According to Rhoads, this is the 10th year that Radio Ink has been identifying the most powerful men and women in the radio industry. "Only seven of those have been on the list all ten years. Interestingly, while just three people have held the #1 spot during the first nine years of this list's existence, none of them is on the list today."
