Video for 'These Words' Added to MTV and VH1 While Single Takes Off On Top 40 Radio
NEW YORK, July 6 /PRNewswire/ -- She's conquered the rest of the world with her distinctive voice and her unique songwriting and now Natasha Bedingfield is ready to unleash her self-penned debut album Unwritten in the United States on August 2, 2005. Upon its release in the UK, Unwritten hit #1 making her only the third solo singer to debut in the UK sales chart at #1. And here in America, she's off to a fantastic start. Her first single "These Words" which was already #1 in a dozen countries, is fast reacting at top 40 radio stations after being introduced a few shorts weeks ago (#20 on the chart and rising). Natasha's brand new video for "These Words," directed by Chris Milk, was just added to MTV and VH1. Natasha is booked on Good Morning America on August 8th, the Tonight Show with Jay Leno on August 5th and the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson in August.
Natasha decided to make a few variations to the original version of Unwritten for her U.S. debut. Among the extras are two new songs, one entitled "Stumble" and the other "The One That Got Away". "These Words" and "Unwritten" were re-mixed and singer Estelle now joins Natasha on the newly recorded "Drop Me In The Middle."
Natasha comments, "I evolve every day as an artist and the things that move me and inspire me change too. So, what a rare opportunity it was to be given time to add some new flavor to the album for the U.S. I still love the first Unwritten, but I'm excited to have had the chance to put a few new touches on it for the U.S."
2004 was a whirlwind year for Natasha, closing with four coveted Brit nominations in the categories of British Female Solo Artist, British Breakthrough Artist, Pop Act and Best Single (These Words). The UK release of Unwritten in September 2004 landed at #1 and by the second week it was platinum (it is now triple platinum). Likewise, with every single set forth came a #1 chart position for each ("Single," "These Words," & "Unwritten").
Hailing from South London via New Zealand, Natasha has indulged a decade long passion for writing and singing by penning an album inspired by an innate understanding of the international language of pop. Natasha's lyrical sass in life and song leads to instantly memorable pop songs. "I came from a very musical family," she shares, "even though I had different dreams as a kid." Listening to a diversity of artists including Bjork, Sting, U2, Destiny's Child, Stevie Wonder, Brandy, The Cranberries and The Beatles, Natasha's desire to become involved with music took root when she, brother Daniel and sister Nikola formed a local band. The rest is becoming history ...
Not only is Natasha the 3rd solo singer in UK history to debut at #1 (after Annie Lennox and Bonnie Tyler) but Natasha and her famous brother Daniel recently made it into the Guinness Book of World Records as the only brother and sister to have solo number ones in UK chart history...
