Cultural Charreada and Children's Program a First; Hispanic Journalist Convention Features History Making Programs
FORT WORTH, Texas, June 15 /PRNewswire/ -- The National Association of Hispanic Journalists will hold their convention in Fort Worth from June 15-18, 2005, and for the first time in its history it will include several family- focused events.
Children's activities will include a news reporting workshop and a broadcast screen test at the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. on Friday, June 17. Telemundo will broadcast a "live" weather segment from the children's workshop allowing participants to witness the 'real thing'. Jose Valle, General Manager for Telemundo 39 in Dallas, said, "We are happy to be part of NAHJ this year. It gives us a chance to get out into the community and have our viewers come by and see a live weather cast and have the children interact with our talent."
Charros de Fort Worth will perform at 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 16, at the Fort Worth Stockyards' Cowtown Coliseum. The performance will feature a parade, rope tricks and three choreographed routines with horses. "It is our pleasure to showcase our cultural traditions to both national and international Hispanic journalists attending the Fort Worth Convention," said Ana Barrera-Waggoner, President of the D/FW Network of Hispanic Communicators (the local chapter of National Association of Hispanic Journalists) and Deputy State Editor of the Dallas Morning News. "Our chapter has the unique opportunity to celebrate Hispanic culture which is an integral part of North Texas history."
