SPARTANBURG, S.C., May 9 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Step aside Moons over My Hammy(R), this May and June at Denny's, it'll be Moons over Madagascar in celebration of the company's promotion with DreamWorks Animation's computer animated comedy, Madagascar, in theaters May 27.

Beginning May 16 through June 20, Denny's has created Madagascar Mania, in an effort to reach consumers with an imaginative and compelling program that leverages the excitement of Madagascar while expanding the film's awareness inside and outside its restaurants.

"Denny's is definitely the place for families to be this summer. Each Denny's restaurant will celebrate the movie with fantastic in-restaurant merchandising, movie character masks and finger puppets, chances to win trips to the San Diego Zoo and great new desserts -- all designed to capture the fun and adventure of Madagascar," said Margaret Jenkins, Denny's chief marketing officer.

Guests of all ages will be greeted with a veritable jungle of fun when they arrive at Denny's. Every child will receive a full-sized mask and cool finger puppet featuring each of the four Madagascar characters and a mischievous penguin. Adults will be encouraged to enter Denny's Madagascar Mania sweepstakes to win one of five all-expenses paid weekend trips to the San Diego Zoo. The sweepstakes will also award five Hewlett-Packard Digital Photography Packages. A special Madagascar Mania menu will feature jungle- themed desserts: Kids' Monkey Milkshake, Kids' Zany Zebra Ice Cream, Safari Split and Stripe-A-Licious Cheesecake.

The Denny's promotion begins just in time for the Memorial Day weekend, the traditional start of the summer vacation season. Denny's 1,600 restaurants nationwide give families plenty of opportunity to add a little bit of jungle fun to their summer travels.

About the film:

Madagascar, arriving in theatres May 27, is a computer-animated comedy starring four civilized animals -- a lion, a zebra, a giraffe and a hippo -- who have lived their entire lives in blissful captivity growing up as best friends at the Central Park Zoo. One day they are put on a boat to Africa and suddenly find themselves washed ashore onto the exotic island of Madagascar. Now these native New Yorkers must learn to survive in this strange land and discover the true meaning of the phrase "it's a jungle out there."
