Steve Dayan to Chair EIDC Board of Directors
Revamped Board Reflects Industry and Community
HOLLYWOOD, Calif., Feb. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- The Entertainment Industry Development Corporation (EIDC) -- a private nonprofit that facilitates on-location film, television and commercial production in Los Angeles and surrounding areas -- has elected Steve Dayan, a business agent with Teamsters, Local 399 (Studio Drivers and Location Managers), to chair its 2005 Board Of Directors.
Dayan replaces outgoing Chair Lisa Rawlins, who was elected in December 2003 following EIDC's restructuring.
"Steve Dayan brings the ideal blend of skills and experience to shepherd EIDC's ongoing rebuilding process and help the revitalized organization continue to move forward," said Ms. Rawlins. "He understands the needs of the industry, and the concerns of the communities in which location filming occurs. Bringing that vision of 'balance' to the EIDC Board is essential to our success."
Originally comprised largely of city and county elected officials, the Board's composition was changed following EIDC's restructuring to better represent both community and industry stakeholders. The 26-member Board now includes representatives from local communities, major studios, independent production companies, entertainment industry guilds, unions and vendors (a complete list of EIDC's Board of Directors is available on the EIDC web site: www.eidc.com).
Dayan previously chaired the Board's Operations Committee, where he helped to modernize and streamline EIDC's complex permitting system. He says he and the Board are ready to work closely with President Steve MacDonald to strengthen EIDC's status as the industry's local "go to" resource.
During 2004, EIDC had its busiest year ever serving the needs of the production community and the neighborhoods where filming occurs. It coordinated nearly 53,000 days of filming -- the most in its 10-year history.
"We're working to build on the momentum created during 2004," said Dayan. "EIDC's house is in order; and now we must clearly define what services can be provided within our new business model. I am confident that the Board has the commitment and staff resources to take this crucial next step."
