Sonoma County, California Selects Accela to Provide New E-Government Services to Citizens
On-Line Portal Allows Development Community to Apply and Pay for Building Permits On-Line
DUBLIN, Calif., Jan. 31 /PRNewswire/ -- Accela, Inc., the leading provider of government enterprise management software solutions, announced today that Sonoma County has selected Accela VelocityHall(R) to be implemented as the County's new public access portal for providing contractors, development professionals, and homeowners to access many government services on-line. The Permit & Resource Management Department will be offering several residential permits on-line including siding, minor dry rot repair, window replacement, water heater replacement, HVAC equipment replacement, and minor electrical repairs.
The portal will increase access to the County's building and planning management activities by allowing citizens and businesses to apply and pay for permits, schedule inspections, or check the status of a permit or inspection directly from the Internet, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The building permits to be offered by the County are typically processed via mail or in-person so the new on-line system will provide citizens with an option that can greatly expedite service.
"We are excited about expanding our e-government services to our citizens," stated Pete Parkinson, Director of the Permit and Resource Management Department at Sonoma County. "By expediting the permitting process for building professionals, the on-line permitting system will help us increase efficiency and measurably enhance the level of service to our residents and businesses."
"As citizens become accustomed to doing more of their business on-line, they will come to expect the same kinds of services from their government agencies," stated Robert P. Lee, Accela president and CEO. "VelocityHall allows agencies to communicate and coordinate more effectively with citizens, saving everyone both time and money."
