Entertainment Industry Leaders and Environmental Experts Meet to Discuss Best Practices for 'Green Productions'


Advisory for Friday, Feb. 4

WHAT: UCLA Anderson School of Management, in conjunction with
UCLA Institute of the Environment, UCLA School of
Theater, Film & Television and the California/EPA
Integrated Waste Management Board, will host a Motion
Picture Industry Sustainability Forum, entitled, "From
the Red Carpet to Green Productions." UCLA Anderson
School Professor Charles Corbett is the organizer
of this event.

Leaders from the motion picture and television industry
and experts from the environmental community will
showcase existing environmental best practices within
the motion picture industry and introduce existing
"green" resources to industry participants. Conference
participants will have the opportunity to network with
other environmental leaders in the industry.

WHO: Speakers from the motion picture industry include:
* Ed Begley, Jr., actor and environmentalist
* Jim Economos, director of environmental and safety
affairs, DreamWorks
* Gretchen Lewotsky, vice president of public affairs
and environmental operations, Fox Entertainment
* Mike Fantasia, location manager (Dante's Peak, The
Terminal, Seabiscuit, Catch Me If You Can)

Speakers from the environmental community and state
government include:
* Rosario Marin, board chair, California Integrated
Waste Management Board, (appointed by Governor
Schwarzenegger to represent the public)
* Kathy McCurdy, vice president and director of
features, Film Liaisons in California, Statewide
(FLICS)
* Ted Reiff, president, The Reuse People (dismantled
the sets for The Matrix 2 & 3)
* Jason McLennan, founder and director of Elements (the
sustainable design consulting division of BNIM
Architects)
* Sarah Diefendorf, executive director, Environmental
Finance Center Region 9 (examining environmentally
beneficial behavior placement in television)
