Dirrty Records Mogul Honored With Proclamation
LOS ANGELES, Jan. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Los Angeles Mayor James K. Hahn issued a special proclamation to Dirrty Records Founder/CEO Lunden De'Leon declaring February 7, 2005 as Lunden De'Leon Day in the City of Los Angeles.
"I hope this will inspire all black women," says De'Leon. "Rarely do we hear of black women owning a record label but I'm living proof that it can be done."
Recently featured in Forbes, Entrepreneur Magazine, Los Angeles Times and the New York Times, De'Leon started Dirrty Records in 2002 signing award-winning rocker DH Peligro (Dead Kennedys, Red Hot Chili Peppers). Fans recall first being introduced to De'Leon as Joanne Mbutu on the hit television series "Vital Signs." A few years later, the actress catapulted that breakout role into a successful career with quite an impressive track-record by starring in over fifty movies and television shows like the 20th Century Fox Movie "The Ladies Room," "Surviving Paradise," "Fury," "Faux-Pas," "Cryptz" and the HBO award-winning film "Kickin Chicken". With a successful acting career under her belt, it was only natural for De'Leon to step behind the camera and produce/direct a number of independent films including the suspense thriller "Irrebuttable Presumption," "Undercover" and "Veronica's Secret." In May 2004, De'Leon was inducted into the Caribbean Hall of Fame alongside such legends as Bob Marley, and Sidney Poitier.
