Aventail EX-1500 SSL VPN Attains 'PC Pro Recommended' with 5-Star Ranking

Aventail EX-1500 SSL VPN Attains 'PC Pro Recommended' with 5-Star Ranking

PC Pro's Product Testing Lab Praises Aventail's Smart Access and End Point Control

SEATTLE, Jan. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- The Aventail EX-1500 SSL VPN appliance scored a 5-star ranking in a just-released product review in PC Pro magazine, thereby winning a "PC Pro Recommended." PC Pro is a leading professional computer magazine in the UK and has built its reputation on comprehensive and authoritative product testing. The magazine's testing lab ruled that "Aventail delivers a powerful SSL VPN appliance."

The PC Pro Recommended ranking is a stamp of approval from the publication's enterprise hardware experts and given to products that PC Pro's experts recommend for the intended implementation, according to PC Pro.

The review specifically highlighted Aventail's ease of installation and the Aventail Smart Access and End Point Control features.

"It's powered by Aventail's latest ASAP 8 OS, which brings in a range of new features that makes SSL VPNs look even more nimble and desirable than the IPsec variety. Key to this release is Aventail's Smart Access, which interrogates the user's system and determines the most secure method of access," the review states.

Aventail Smart Access makes access easier, faster and more transparent for end-users, because it automatically determines and deploys the most appropriate access method. Aventail's SSL PVN is the only one to activate access methods behind the scenes for all Web-based and client/server applications, without separate downloads or pop-ups like competitive products.

Aventail's SSL VPN technology also leads the market with its End Point Control features, which is integrated with policy management, ensuring maximum control for the administrator and ease of access for end users. Aptly described by the PC Pro review: "Aventail's End Point Controls ensure users meet specific security criteria before they can access network resources.... So when a user has been authenticated, their system is scanned and the results used to determine whether they're allowed to use browser access or require an agent to be deployed."

Aventail End Point Control allows administrators to set granular access rules based on the level of trust for an end point. An administrator can create multiple Aventail Policy Zones, such as Trusted, Semi-trusted, or Un- Trusted, something not possible with any other SSL VPN on the market. All other SSL VPNs have only two options, on and off, whereas customers need three or more zones to accommodate the range of trust on an end device and the range of access requirements.
