The 9 Artprice Rules for a Standardised Art Marketplace
The 9 Artprice Rules for a Standardised Art Marketplace
PARIS, January 24/PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Artprice.com, the world's leader in art market information, is to become
the only on-line standardised art market when its Classifieds service comes
on stream on February 9, 2005.
91% percent of art market players (auctioneers, art dealers and
galleries) currently have access to the Internet (November 2004, Source:
A.M.I.).
Between the works traded through galleries and auctioneers, and the good
deals "hunted for" on Ebay-the world's leading on-line auctioneer-Artprice,
will offer the market a successful alternative with a view to increasing the
liquidity of the art market. Artprice's standardised distribution network,
the only one of its kind in the world, will enable every art lover, collector
and art professional to buy and sell works anywhere in the world.
By completing an on-line form standardised by Artprice, a Classified Ad
can be posted for any artwork that can be matched with one of the 306,000
artist IDs stored in the Artprice database.
The benefits of Artprice's Classified Ads:
1. They attract an audience and offer unique visibility (Artprice counts
900,000 members, representing the lion's share of the market, in addition to
its 3,100 affiliates sites, for buying and selling precisely identified and
standardised art works.
2. The ads may be viewed for 30 days on www.artprice.com and on
Artprice's 936 other websites (artmarket.com, artistsearch.com,
art-online.com, etc.) within two working days.
3. Buyers and sellers may request an instant estimate for a work of art
contained in the Artprice database that holds 21 million indexes and auction
results of 306,000 artists, signatures, biographies, etc.
4. Artprice collects no commission on the sale of artworks as buyers and
sellers are in direct contact via Artprice which holds the contact details of
both parties.
5. Via My Artprice, the personalised portal of 900,000 Artprice members,
Classified Ads are targeted to buyers and sellers on the basis of their
preferred artists and historic search criteria. Artprice Knowledge analyses
the preferences of millions of art lovers based on over a billion requests
every year.
6. Classified Ads are easy to input and consult. An input help form is
used to harmonise the presentation of the ads and the works on offer.
7. Buyers and sellers can instantly view works on offer as the classified
ads include photos (free of charge for up to three photos per ad).
8. With both this standardisation and the search function by the artist's
name, Artprice members are able to sort ads with a simple click of the mouse,
according to a wide range of criteria (by price, country of sale, category,
etc.).
9. Classified Ads may be viewed completely free of charge. A fee is only
charged for posting a Classified Ad.
