Broadcom Named Most Respected Public Fabless Company by Fabless Semiconductor Association

FSA Cites Broadcom's Products, Leadership and Innovation; Annual Award is Fourth Received by Broadcom in the Past Seven Years

IRVINE, Calif., Dec. 14 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Broadcom Corporation (NASDAQ:BRCM), a leading provider of highly integrated semiconductor solutions enabling broadband communications, today announced that it has been named the "Most Respected Public Fabless Company" for 2004 by the Fabless Semiconductor Association (FSA). This top honor, presented to Broadcom at last week's tenth annual FSA awards dinner in Santa Clara, Calif., recognized Broadcom's vision and leadership in the semiconductor industry. This is the fourth time in the last seven years that Broadcom has been the recipient of this prestigious industry award.

Competing with more than 70 other public fabless semiconductor companies worldwide, Broadcom was chosen as the 2004 winner after first being selected to a list of finalists by the FSA's Awards Committee, which analyzed performance and likelihood of long-term success for each company selected. From that list, members of the fabless community, semiconductor financial and industry analysts, and suppliers were asked to cast ballots for the company they respect the most in terms of products, vision, strategy and future opportunities.

"Broadcom is a proven leader in the semiconductor industry, a fact that is emphasized by its selection as the most respected public fabless company for 2004," said Jodi Shelton, co-founder and executive director of the FSA. "We salute the company as a multi-year winner of this award with its outstanding products, leadership and innovation, and look forward to continued success from Broadcom."

"On behalf of all Broadcom employees whose dedication, hard work and spirit of innovation are the reasons for our success, we thank the FSA and our industry peers, analysts and suppliers for this honor," said Alan E. Ross, Broadcom's President and CEO. "We believe that our broad portfolio of products and technologies, our superior engineering execution and our promising markets position us well for the future, and we are gratified by the recognition of our industry peers as we pursue these long-term opportunities."
